Karl O’Hanlon began his career at the Boston Consulting Group developing strategies for blue-chip international clients in the Finance, Retail and Tourism sectors. Karl subsequently joined the Bank of Ireland where he led the Group Transformation programme - the largest and most successful cost reduction and service improvement programme ever undertaken by the Bank.
In 2002, seeking opportunities to connect his working life with his passions, Karl travelled to the Languedoc looking for interesting property investment opportunities. A chance meeting with the son of a prominent Béziers winemaker led to a number of successful collaborations, resulting in a full time move to France in 2006, where he joined Garrigae Investissements as Managing Director. Together with the founder, he grew the business into one of the leading Real Estate operations in the South of France, three times winner of the prestigious Bentley award for Best French Development, and developers/operators of Le Couvent d’Hérépian, recently referred to by the Sunday Times as “possibly the best small hotel in France”. Married with three children, Karl holds a BA from University College Dublin and an M. Phil in European Politics and Society from the University of Oxford, A fluent French speaker, he is fanatical about architecture, design and antiques, and holds a qualification in interior architecture and design from the Dublin Institute of Design.
